First Public Meeting

On May 4, 2009 The Town of Colchester was awarded an Environmental Protection Agency grant to develop an Integrated Water Resources Management program (IWRM). This grant is the first of its kind in Vermont and kicks off with this first public information meeting.

Program Goal
The goal of the IWRM program is to protect the Colchester's extensive water resources through an increased understanding of the relationship between water uses, land use, storm water, and wastewater management. Over the course of 3 years, detailed information was collected to better understand the potential risks to the Town's water resources. This data gathering includes mapping of existing infrastructure, water quality testing, and the field evaluation of individual properties

With the public's involvement, the Town will explore the development of various management plans to address these risks to ensure the preservation and protection of the Town's water resources today and for the future.

Public Meetings

The kick-off meeting will begin with a brief, 30-minute overview of the IWRM program then quickly followed by an open, public comment and question and answer period. The public is invited and encouraged to attend and hear more about the grant and its impact on the community of Colchester.
