Public Libraries in Vermont

Survey Link

A survey discussing libraries and communities was released to Vermonters asking them to provide feedback about their views and sentiments regarding libraries and library services. This survey will assist the Vermont Department of Libraries in a preliminary look into how our libraries may be perceived within communities. This survey is being conducted as a research project within the Vermont Certified Public Managers program (VCPM) through the State of Vermont Center for Achievement in Public Service (CAPS).

This year’s VCPM cohort has decided to examine the sentiments of Vermonters toward their local library as public policy research project and by way of the survey deployed yesterday. The results will assist the Department, state government, the administration, and legislators understand the public view of libraries. Additionally, this is a helpful step that can bolster any tentative library legislation that may be introduced.

The VCPM members ask that you participate and if possible, promote the survey to everyone to obtain your community’s views on Vermont libraries. The Department of Libraries would like to hear all points of view both positive, negative, and indifferent on the role of libraries in their communities.

The survey will be made available through a variety of portals and channels until February. While it is not exhaustive or extensive, it will provide information that will allow us to understand the current views on libraries across Vermont.
