What is the Local Option Tax (LOT)?
The Colchester Local Option Tax (LOT) is a voter-approved 1% tax levied on retail, rooms, meals, and alcohol. This tax went into effect on October 1, 2015. It is estimated that 87% of the LOT revenue will be paid by non-residents. Funds generated by the LOT will be used primarily for debt reduction; funds could also be allocated for capital improvement projects, but only upon voter approval.For more info on the LOT, please click here...
