Intervale Food Hub

There's still time to sign up for Intervale's Spring subscriptions. And Burnham Library is again serving as a pickup site. They have a great variety of local food subscriptions available for their 2014-2015 Winter season. Enjoy fresh, delicious local food! Options include Vermont Vegetable (a variety of local, seasonal produce), Omnivore and Vegetarian Packages (Vermont Vegetable, plus three local ingredients designed for seasonal meals at home), and Cooking Essentials (Quality local ingredients, including bread, eggs, cheese, and meat). One-on-One Tutoring

Update - We still have quite a few openings, especially on Saturdays. Students from the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (Colchester campus) are tutoring students in reading, math, and science at the library. The program is focused on grades 1-6, but tutoring is available in other grades for certain subjects. Sessions are scheduled for Mondays from 4-8 pm, Wednesdays from 4-8 pm, and Saturdays from 9:30 am-3 pm. There is no fee for the service. Bead-a-Bracelet - Feb. 23

Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 6 pm. Learn to make a bracelet (or two) out of beads and wire! Open to those 16 and older. Please register online.

Family Movie Night: Big Hero 6 - Mar. 6

Friday, Mar. 6 at 6 pm. The entire family can join us for a showing of the Disney animated film Big Hero 6. We'll bring the popcorn! The movie will be shown next door, at the Colchester Meeting House. Please register at our website. Please register online.

Teen Tech Week - Mar. 8-14

  • Scratch Parade - Monday, Mar. 8 at 4 pm - Using MIT's awesome freeware, learn and utilize the basics of computer coding and create a moving, talking, dancing, or just jiggly creature to include in our digital parade! Ages 12 & up. Sign up here.
  • Sparkly Circuits - Tuesday, Mar. 9 at 4 pm - Using conductive thread, tiny LEDs, coin batteries, and other simple electronics, we'll learn about circuits and basic electricity to make cool sparkly accessories! Ages 12 & up. Sign up here.
  • Extreme Paper Folding - Wednesday, Mar. 10 at 4 pm - Paper cranes and small paper boxes are easy-we're going to the extremes of cutting, folding, and advanced geometry to create really cool multi-colored 3D sculptures using math and paper. Ages 10 & up. Sign up here.
  • Give it Some Bounce - Thursday, Mar. 11 at 4 pm - Make bouncy balls out of household materials! Ages 12 & up. Sign up here.
  • Tiny Food Party - Friday, Mar. 12 at 3 pm - Do you think small things are cute? Do you like to eat food? How would you like to eat tiny food? Ages 13 & up. Sign up here.
  • Brush Bot Extravaganza - Saturday, Mar. 13 at 11 am - ), use a toothbrush, a small motor, and a tiny battery, to create a vibrating robot! At part two (1:30 pm), we create an epic maze for our Brush Bots to race through! Ages 10 & up. Sign up for: Part One and Part Two

AARP Tax Aide Program

We are currently taking appointments for the AARP Tax Aide Service, which helps seniors (55+) and lower income households (less than $35,000) to file their taxes. Appointments are on Saturdays, from 9:15 am-1:15 pm, and run until April. Call 264-5660 (and choose option 3 and then 1) to setup an appointment.

Tax Forms

Unfortunately, this year the library will only get a limited selection of forms from the IRS, and no forms from the State.

Federal - The Library will be receiving 1040/1040A/1040EZ tax forms, but nothing else. Here are some ways to get instructions and other forms:
