Welcome to the Public Works Department

Director's Greeting

Welcome to the web site of the Colchester Public Works Department. Colchester has many diverse land uses, and an abundance of natural resources. Situated on the eastern shores of Lake Champlain with a population of approximately 17,400, Colchester is the second largest community in the State of Vermont.

The Colchester Public Works Department provides a variety of public services to the community. Our primary responsibilities include the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of the community's infrastructure. These services are implemented through the divisions of Administration, Engineering, Highway, Equipment Maintenance, Stormwater and Wastewater.

Guided by a philosophy of service, public safety, cost containment and environmental protection, our mission is to improve the overall quality of life within the community through the development of a superior infrastructure.

Your comments and ideas are always welcome, and I hope you do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of service.

Bryan K. Osborne
Director of Public Works
