3. Approval of Minutes - August 22, 2002
R. Peterson made a motion to approve the minutes of August 22, 2002. Mr. Sargent seconded the motion and it passed.
4. New Business:
Mr. Romond began discussion about the invitation from the Town Manager to attend the monthly town staff meeting. After some discussion it was agreed that Mr. Germain would attend on the 19th at 9:30 a.m. and his back up would be Mr. Kearney.
Mr. Romond brought two grant opportunities to the attention of the group. The first is from the Lake Champlain Basin Program for up to $7500 with an October 4 deadline. The second is from the VT Agency of Natural Resources for up to $5000 due October 25. It was agreed that we would apply for both grants to fund a Water Quality Committee Web site.
5. Other Business:
There will be a meeting on September 27 with Eric Perkins of the EPA at 9AM regarding potential next steps of microbial tracking. Ms. Peterson. Ms. Bates, and Mr. Romond will attend.
Ms. Peterson will attempt to write a response to the Free Press Editorial re water quality issues in Malletts Bay to be brought back to our next meeting.
Mr. Germain brought with him 2 CD's from the Lake Champlain Basin Program containing in depth information about Lake Champlain. Hopefully all committee members will receive a copy.
Yuri Homziak has surveyed over 800 people and has had 120 responses to his survey. He will share the results in 2 weeks. He will get a student to help catalog information in the library and he is looking for resources to assist in funding out Web site.
There was a long discussion about Stone adding several headings including Regional and Collaborative Strategies and Recreational Strategies. We brainstormed and came up with some additions and changes. Mr. Romond will send this work to the committee. Work on strategies was not completed and will be picked up at our next meeting.
