[ARCHIVED] Colchester supports Building Homes Together Coalition

Dawn Francis speaking at Building Homes Together

Dawn Francis, Town Manager is working on a coalition with the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission, Housing Vermont and the Champlain Housing Trust, among others, to advance 3500 new homes in Chittenden County by 2021. These organizations will work on local policies, new financial resources, advise legislators and advocate for new construction. Housing availability and affordability is one of the main obstacles facing employers and employees alike.

During her address at Monday’s for Building Homes Together Press Conference Francis said, “We are pleased that such a diverse mix of groups, businesses and municipalities are coming together to support the common goal of making housing Chittenden County more available and affordable to people who want to work and live here. Towns like Colchester will benefit from the economic impact of building housing as well as the energy from the new families who move in.”
