As many of you noticed yesterday, Malletts Bay Avenue is now open to all traffic. The project was completed 17 calendar days ahead of schedule. The project team consisted of the Town of Colchester, Champlain Consulting Engineers, SD Ireland Companies and Champlain Water District. The Town received a $175,000 bridge and culvert grant from the Vermont Agency of Transportation to help reduce the overall $371,000 price tag for Colchester tax payers. The project was completed ahead of schedule largely due to the hard work and efficiency of our contractor, SD Ireland Companies. The dry summer also worked in our favor by keeping the water level in the Morehouse Brook down throughout construction. The three property owners most affected by this project worked collaboratively and patiently with the project team throughout the project.
