Promoting Colchester…
The Town of Colchester is committed to the promotion of our parks, recreation opportunities, and quality of life to ensure a thriving business community. We look continually at cost-effective ways to bring people to our community. The following is a list of some of our initiatives from the past year:
- Developed a tourism brochure and map promoting approximately 100 businesses; nearly 10,000 were distributed between June 2015 and August 2016
- An advertisement at the northbound I-89 Welcome Center near Exit 12 expanded interstate visitor awareness and drew over 100,000 visitors to Colchester from June – August 2016
- A new Visitors Center was created at Severance Corners and brochure and map kiosks at Lower Bayside Park were installed
- Placed tourism brochures at Burlington Airport, on 12 Lake Champlain Ferry Boats, Waterfront Info Center, Burlington Boat House and Spirit Ethan Allen Ticket booth; over 3,000 were distributed from May – August 2016
- Hosted tours of Colchester amenities to more than 20 staff from local hotels; signage provided in hotel lobbies promoted Colchester recreational sites and businesses to guests
- Developed new Website, Facebook page, and other social media platforms for inclusion in marketing efforts
- Collaborated with Vermont Business Magazine in July 2016 on an article promoting Colchester
- Installed 100’ dinghy dock at Bayside Park to allow boaters from the U.S. and Canada to visit local parks and businesses
- Promoted Colchester in conjunction with the State Department of Tourism: attendees at Philadelphia, Montreal and Ottawa Tourism Conferences were introduced to Colchester via the State Department of Tourism booth
