Volunteer Openings at Colchester
Would you like to share in the stewardship of Colchester as a member of one of the two most impactful citizen-directed commissions of the Town? If so, there are currently two openings on the Colchester Planning Commission and one opening on the Development Review Board. Both boards play a critical role in Colchester’s development and growth.
The Planning Commission focuses on long term planning for the community and crafts land use regulations and revisions to the Town Zoning Regulations to meet the vision of the Town Plan. The Commission’s Chair, Pam Loranger, was recently chosen as the recipient of the 2017 Citizen Planner of the Year Award from the Vermont Planners Association! Members meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 PM
The Development Review Board evaluates commercial and residential land development proposals; approves conditional use and variance applications; and hears appeals of the Zoning Administrator’s determinations. They meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month (an additional meeting on the 2nd Wednesday may be possible depending on case load) at 7:00 PM. Both groups meet in the Outer Bay Room on the 3rd floor of the Town Offices.
Interested? Attend an upcoming meeting of either, or both, boards to see if one of these openings is right for you. No experience is required and any Colchester resident is welcome to apply. Find out how rewarding serving your community can be! Volunteer Forms are available at the Town Offices on Blakely Road or online at http://colchestervt.gov/DocumentCenter/View/1131.
