[ARCHIVED] Colchester's New Town Clerk/Treasurer Announced!

Julie Graeter

Town of Colchester Announces Selection of New Town Clerk Treasurer

The Town of Colchester has appointed Julie Graeter as the Town’s new Town Clerk/Treasurer. Julie comes to the position with over twenty years of private sector experience in finance as well a stint in commercial real estate. Julie has served as Colchester’s assistant Town Clerk/Treasurer since 2004, with the primary responsibility for Town and State education tax billing and collections.
Julie was chosen from a pool of strong candidates by a team that included Town Manager Aaron Frank, Town Clerk/Treasurer Karen Richard, Chair of the Board of Civil Authority (responsible for Tax Appeals) Charlotte Gardener; Town Finance Officer Michael Moffatt, and Human Resources Manager, Sherry LaBarge.

Town Manager Aaron Frank stated: “’Julie has a Bachelor’s in Accounting and has gained a strong understanding of business processes and financial management. She has successfully worked with volunteers in the election process. She knows the permitting and real estate records keeping functions of the office. Julie was strongly recommended by users of the Clerk’s services and community volunteers. She is the right person to continue providing the professional service of retiring Clerk/Treasurer Karen Richard.”

Charlotte Gardner commented “With Julie Graeter’s 14 years’ experience as the Assistant Town Clerk and Treasurer, she has the knowledge of most of the responsibilities required of our Town Clerk. Her current role in the office, her ability to work well with the present team of employees; and the ease with which she will transition to this important position makes her the best qualified for our new Town Clerk and Treasurer.”

Julie noted, “I am thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve the Town of Colchester. In this new role, I will continue to build upon the strong standards of customer service and accuracy in the Town Clerk’s office.”

Julie resides in Colchester with her husband, Chris; they have three children, all of whom attended Colchester High School.

Current Town Clerk/Treasurer Karen Richard is retiring on June 30, 2018. Julie will then assume her duties as Town Clerk/Treasurer on July 1, 2018.
