The Town of Colchester has appointed Tyler Cootware and Adam Francis as the Full Time/Career Firefighters that will serve under the direction of the Full Time/Career Captain. These two full time positions began responding to calls on June 1. Their regular schedule is weekday days when our volunteer staffing is at its lowest levels. Their daily responsibilities will include responding to emergency calls for service, public education, training, pre-fire planning, and equipment maintenance.
Tyler Cootware began his firefighting career in 2012 as a Cadet and at the time of his hire was a Lieutenant in the Malletts Bay Fire Department. He is also a member of Colchester Technical Rescue, Vermont USAR Task Force 1, and past member of Colchester Rescue. Tyler is a State certified Firefighter 1 and 2, an EMT, Hazmat Technician, Swift Water Rescue Technician, and National Incident Management Systems-100, 200, 700.
Adam Francis started his firefighting career with the Malletts Bay Fire Department as a Cadet. Since then Adam served his country in the United States Marines Corps from 2013 – 2017. After leaving the Marine Corps he worked for Global Foundries as a Firefighter/Tech. While attending Southern Maine Community College majoring in Fire Science he served on the Cape Elizabeth Fire/Rescue as a firefighter/EMT. Adam is a Board-Certified Firefighter 1 and 2, an EMT, and Hazmat Operations Certified.
