The Colchester Police Department has nationally certified child passenger safety technicians who are available to check the installation of your child’s seat. National misuse rate of children in car seats have historically been upwards of 75%. If you would like to have your child’s seat checked please call 802-264-5555 to make an appointment. Appointments take about 30-60 minutes so please plan accordingly. Please bring the following items to your appointment:
- Owner’s manual for the car seat
- Owner’s manual for the vehicle
- If possible also bring the child who will be sitting in the seat to be checked
- If you have received a voucher for a free seat through the Vermont Department of Health, please bring the voucher with you or we will not be able to provide a seat for you.
We also will do appointments for expecting parent(s).
