Get ready for another fun season with CYBL! Our league is open to all Colchester students in Grades 1 - 8. Kindergarten Basketball will also begin in January 2024.
- Each team will have a 1-hour practice once per week on assigned weekdays between the hours of 6:00 - 9:00 pm
- All teams will have at least one 1-hour game on Saturdays. Games times vary between 8 am - 4 pm
- Games and practices will be held at the Malletts Bay School (Grades 1 - 4) and the Colchester Middle School (Grades 5 - 8).
- Grades 5/6 and Grades 7/8 will have the opportunity to travel to play teams from surrounding communities.
- VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED! Please contact the Rec Department if you are interested! Training will be provided.
- For residents only. Non-residents who live in a nearby town with no league, may inquire about registering. Please call or email the office if interested.

Registrations for Kindergarten Basketball are now OPEN! You can now using our ONLINE REGISTRATION SYSTEM or complete a Registration Form (PDF) and send it into the office. You do NOT need to complete a CYBL Registration Form, just a basic form.
This program is perfect for boys and girls to learn proper techniques before joining the Colchester Youth Basketball League in the First Grade. Your child will learn teamwork, ball-handling and shooting skills through our station-based practice plans while using age-appropriate equipment. We will have competitions, team & family games, and have a TON of FUN! All you need are sneakers!

Youth Basketball Officials - ALL POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2025
The Colchester Youth Basketball League (CYBL) is seeking qualified individuals to officiate our youth basketball games on Saturdays during our winter season. The 2024 game season schedule is still TBD; games are primarily on Saturdays between 8:00am - 4:00pm, lasting one hour each. A formal job description is posted below. Official training is offered (times TBD).

Qualifications
Official should have experience playing basketball at a competitive level and/or refereeing youth basketball games.
Description
Responsible for officiating youth basketball games in a recreational league for grades 1-4 or 5-8. Youth Basketball Officials should assist in teaching the sport of basketball to novice and intermediate players by providing examples of different infractions including traveling, double dribble, carries, etc. This position will report directly to the Program Coordinator.
Essential Functions
● Report to work at scheduled time.
● Keep game running as scheduled.
● Officiate youth basketball games.
● Provide instruction and example at begin of game and start of second half.
● Communicate with volunteer coaches.
● Maintain the necessary safety standards, check equipment and gym for safety hazards.
● Attend pre-season training.
● Present professionalism through an appropriate appearance and knowledge of the Colchester Youth Basketball Program.

Applicant will be on their feet, moving up and down the court each game. Applicant must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Youth Basketball Volunteers
Our youth sports programs depend on volunteer support for success. Please consider volunteering to help us provide an enriching athletic experience to the youth of Colchester. All coaches will receive appropriate training on the game of basketball, techniques, and managing and interacting with a team of youth athletes. A volunteer coach can expect to dedicate roughly 2 hours per week to the program (one 1-hour weeknight practice and one 1-hour game on Saturdays).
