Holds
Holds can be used to reserve an item that is already checked out, as well as request an available item for pickup. It is the perfect option for when you don’t have time to browse or just want to grab a book and go.
Ways to Place Holds:
Ways to Place Holds:
- When browsing our online catalog, each items should have a “Place Hold” button next to it. Don’t forget to log into your library account first though.
- Call the library at 802-264-5660
- Email the library at burnhamlib@colchestervt.gov
Picking Up Items:
- When items on hold are available, library staff will check them out to your account and notify you by either phone or email.
- Items are placed in a paper bag with your last name, first initial, the date we contacted you, and the due date. These bags are placed in alphabetical order on the holds shelf, located immediately inside the library entrance, for pick up.
- Please note that certain items, like museum passes or maker kits, may need to be picked up at a circulation desk instead of the holds shelf. If you are unable to find your hold, please ask at the desk for help.
- If you are feeling unwell or have mobility issues that make it difficult to come into the library, we are happy to deliver books or items directly to your car. Please call the library before your arrival so we can prepare your request, and again when you arrive so we know when to bring the items out to your car.
*If you no longer need an item that you had on hold, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make it available to another patron.*
